“That’s right.” His fingers snapped as if he had suddenly remembered something. He was still stalking his way towards you. “I forgot you’re a good girl.”

Sarah pressed her fingers to her eyelids, hoping enough pressure would keep the tears that were building from falling. “I just didn’t think it would be this hard.”

Sarah: “I really don’t think I am, John B” she runs her hand through her hair & quickly ties it on top of her head. “I mean—“ the tears started to run down her face. “If she’s crying it means something’s wrong & she’s ALWAYS crying. im supposed to be able to help her but nothing I do works so I can’t and it means I’m being a shit mom!” She buries her face in her hands as her deepest thoughts come spilling out.

John B is instantly pulling her to him. Crushing her against his body as if enough pressure would cause her to feel how good she was doing. How worthy he thought she was. “Sarah, you’re doing an amazing job, love—“

“I just don’t want her to feel like I’m neglecting her!” She sobs into his chest. “I don’t want her to feel like JJ does. I can’t cause her that much pain. I can’t do this John B I can’t!”

“Sarah, stop.” His tone makes her cry harder because she feels like he’s angry with her. “Baby,” he starts, his voice cracking because how can she even compare herself to Luke Maybank. “JJ’s situation was 100% different. You KNOW that. JJ was in so much pain because his dad didn’t care.” He pressed a kiss to her head but didn’t loosen his grip on her. “You’re absolutely wrecked over this and you’re trying. You know what you don’t want to be. You’ve seen what negligent parenting did to JJ, and you’re doing everything in your power to be a kind, nurturing mom.”

He doesn’t get a response.

“Sarah, the only thing that little girl knows is you. The only reason she’s so fussy all the time with you is because she KNOWS it’s you. She KNOWS she’s at her safe place, where she can be the most vulnerable. Because you’re the only place she feels completely comfortable.”

Her cries have quieted a bit, but he still hears her sniffing as she tries to get her breathing under control.

“You’d never walk away from her, right?. Never not come back?”

“I’d never!” Sarah is scandalized by even the idea.

“I know.” He nuzzled his face into the top of her head. “But Luke did.”

Sunday Nights

• Sunday nights are pretty chill around the Chateau

• Days are spent lounging/relaxing/recouping from Saturday’s adventures.

• (if anything, JB & JJ might go surfing just the two of them, but I think it’s more of a chill/bonding/sit-on-our-boards-in-the-ocean-and-catch-up-on-life kinda thing.)

• Sunday nights start w dinner. It’s usually homemade. Sarah will cook, John B & JJ help out. (I think JJ is in charge of making the salad every Sunday)

• The 3 always have dinner together. Either at the dinner table, on the porch, sometimes in the living room, but they always eat Sunday dinner together.

• After dinner JJ & John B clean up the kitchen/do dishes while Sarah takes a shower and does her in depth weekly skincare routine (bc you can’t tell me she doesn’t have one)

• Once the boys finish cleaning up, JJ usually spends some alone time in his room. (Playing video games/watching Netflix/talking to Kie/etc)

• John B goes into his and Sarah’s room and takes a shower while Sarah finishes her Sunday night routine and gets dressed in comfy clothes for the night. (Sleep shorts and a faded tshirt of John B’s. (Or JJ’s, the two are interchangeable at this point))

• Sarah has a Pogue Playlist that’s just like chill/vibey type music that she plays through the Alexa Kie got them for their room last Christmas.

• Sarah crawls into bed to read a book until John B crawls into bed beside her

• She smiles at him while still reading, and he runs a hand through her hair while smiling at her bc how did he get so lucky to have her love him? 🥺

• Sarah finishes her chapter while John B fucks around on his phone and laughs at a meme JJ sent him.

• “JJ send a meme again?” Sarah doesn’t even look up.

• “It’s just so funny!”

• “You know you two are in the SAME HOUSE right?”

• After Sarah finishes her chapter, one of them starts their weekly check-in.

• Basically they just open the doors to any conversation they want to have. If something happened throughout the week, if there’s any conflict or issue, or if they just need a space to talk through something they’ve been considering, this is the time they do it.

• Sometimes it lasts for hours, sometimes it only takes 30 minutes

• After their talk, they always cuddle (sometimes the emotions evoked from the talks leads to sex) but mostly they finish their night by watching TV together. (A comfort movie, the latest TV show they’re binging, a hockey game, etc.)

I’ve got two requests left until I’m completely caught up!!! (whoooooooo!!!!!)

That being said, these two are going to be probably the most angst-y, hurt/comfort pieces i’ve ever written. If everything goes well of course, they’re going to be pretty long.

anyways, now I’m off to write!
