Yaroslav Amosov dominates Logan Storley in fantastic performance!
It wasn’t the most scintillating match-up ever but that’s one of those feel good performances we don’t get a lot of in MMA. Amosov returns from fighting in the war in Ukraine to defend his title for the first time in his first fight since 18 months and he comes back looking better than he’s ever been.
In a complete reversal from their first fight, Amosov and Storley go 5 rounds on the feet and Amosov washed him. His kickboxing was cleaner than it has ever been. His combos from range were fluid as he took something off his punches to land in succession. He was angling out of exchanges, using his strikes to block incoming strikes and landing with some nasty kicks to the body and leg. Amosov, like the Diaz bros, has never been the quickest guy but he’s figured out that by throwing in combo, moving, throwing away punches and using his jab effectively, he can keep guys right at the edge of distance making his already phenomenal takedown defense even stronger as it just takes more to get in on his legs. Crazy that after the year he’s had, after winning the title, after 25+ fights the man is getting better still.
It sucks he has to go back to fighting in Ukraine. I get that he has to do it but he and we are missing out. The guy could be a really special welterweight.
