32. “I could punch you right now.”

The sun was already setting when Mason lit his first cigarette of the day. It's not like he was quitting, it's just what he spent the day in the Warehouse, and didn't need to get out of there until now. He was perching on a stranger's car outside of the Station, waiting for Corinna for what seemed like an eternity, and his senses started to get overwhelmed.

From the front glass doors, he saw the local reporter leaving the building, cursing a loud "Bitch" under his breath. Of course, it was only loud enough for Mason to hear. He puffed a thick smoke, raising an eyebrow when the man saw him from across the parking lot and approached him.

"So, Corinna also wouldn't see you?" Bobby scoffed, putting away a notebook on his dark leather backpack.

Mason didn't answer, and instead just kept staring at him, unamused.

"Not much of a talker, are you?" the man continued, crossing his arms in front of his chest, "Maybe that's why Cora likes you. She's been overreacting about everything lately, but is too whiny to accept being left alone."

The vampire took his cigarette to his lips again, smoking slowly as he watched the man in front of him. Bobby was only one inch shorter than him, but was trying to stretch his body as much as he could. The reporter took a step closer and rested one arm on the car, almost cornering Mason.

"Just here between us since I know what you two are up to. From a man to another," his voice was lower than before, as if he was gossiping, "Corinna likes it better when you do all the talking. She's better at using her mouth to something els–"

"You talk too much." Growled Mason, aiming stormy eyes at the other's, the little patience he had running shorter and shorter.

Bobby smirked, achieving his goal, "I'm just giving you some tips," he shrugged, "From my experience, you know."

"I could punch you right now," Mason turned his body to him, his presence towering over the human and his voice threatening as he stood merely inches away, "And then you'd stop talking shit for good."

"In front of a police station?" mocked Bobby, trying to keep his ground, "Wanna act tough, hn?"

The heavy tension between the two of them was only interrupted by a softer, curious voice, "Mason? Is everything alright?" Corinna asked by their side, frowning as she studied their postures. Her gaze shifted from one to another.

"Don't worry angel," said Bobby first, "I was just asking him to let me enter my car."

The man took his keys out of his pocket, pressing a button to unlock the car behind Mason. The vampire put out his cigarette against the bodywork, leaving ash markings over it, and moved away from the vehicle, but never letting his eyes off the reporter.

"Are you ready to go, Sweetheart?" he finally asked Corinna, wrapping an arm around her shoulders after giving a final stare at the man.

you genuinely got my head in such a twist when you sent me this. first of all, it popped up out of no where and i flinched. then i was so confused. what could the reasoning have been? is she trying to make a fool out of me?

Rhea speaks about how to turn a sword against the Church is akin to pointing a sword at the Goddess herself, and while this seems a plausible part of the dogma she’s written, it also can just be her trauma speaking since the tenants we have don’t Technically state so, so take that as you will. The closest we’d have to her statement being supported would be the fact that killing is okay if the goddess wills it, and ur not allows to disrespect any who serve the goddess. 

Lorenz also implies that the teachings of Seiros encourage limited interaction w foreign nations (specifcally isolationism) and while this IS a plausible thing for Rhea to include as she fears conflict, Claude also contests this reading. So we aren’t really sure if this was a “Fodlan is just being racist and using religion as a blugeoning tool to excuse that” or “theres some abiguity to how the tenants were written that COULD give off that impression”

Hmmm probably mid afternoon, because they're definitely not a big morning person, but they still like spending a bit of time in the sun (before locking themself down in the lab at work haha). That being said, there's also something magical about the outdoors during the night. 🌃
