James felt more uncomfortable in Paris. It was an unfamiliar setting, somewhere he hadn’t been despite traveling for the past 5 years. More romantic people would be drawn there immediately, but not him. It had been places like Barcelona, Rome, Pompeii, and other places where he could keep his mind occupied. Fancy museums and a giant tower held no appeal for him. He was thankful for the trip, but he was ready to go back to America.
Just when he thought it couldn’t get any worse, he thought he saw someone familiar out of the corner of his eye as he stared up at said giant tower. In that second, he felt a phantom twitch from the missing part of his finger. His back tensed up and he took a deep breath before he lowered his gaze, turning to the side. He was glad that his eyes were hidden behind his dark sunglasses so the girl couldn’t see the flicker of fear in them as he glanced around.
Finally, he settled his gaze back on the girl, pointing at her. “You. Where’s your keeper? I didn’t know they let little demons into Astra. Guess since they let me in, standards are low. They let anyone in,” his tone was smug as he smirked at the girl. No use in letting her know how nervous he was.
