People in Japan love korokke, and adding beef to it gives it a traditional twist. The crunchy croquettes are filled with a tasty mix of mashed potatoes and seasoned ground beef. They make a great meal or snack.
Ingredients: 500g potatoes, peeled and diced. 200g ground beef. 1 onion, finely chopped. 2 tablespoons soy sauce. 1 tablespoon mirin. 1 tablespoon sake. Salt and pepper to taste. Flour, for dredging. 2 eggs, beaten. Panko breadcrumbs, for coating. Oil, for frying.
Instructions: Boil the diced potatoes until tender, then mash them. In a skillet, cook the ground beef and onion until browned. Season with soy sauce, mirin, sake, salt, and pepper. Combine the mashed potatoes with the beef mixture. Mix well and let it cool. Shape the mixture into croquettes. Dredge each croquette in flour, dip in beaten egg, and coat with panko breadcrumbs. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the croquettes until golden brown on all sides. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with tonkatsu sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
