this mating pair of bee flies (Exoprosopa sp.) was right on the side of the road, and the thing about rural roads is that they're just quiet enough to give you some hope that you'll be able to take a picture of a bug without any people driving by and thinking you're crazy, but it never works out. which i'm actually fine with, but i wasn't fine with them seeing my embarrassing failed attempts at getting close

today's invertebrate................lepidophora lutea
lepidophora lutea loves inhaling pollens from flowers because she's a funny little scrunkly bombyllid. unfortunately she has an allergy which makes her body weak and her hair all scraggly!
because of this she always looks like a sad sniffling beast with a hunched back and a look of despair
