Yes. Why would I have any?
Research shows, that co-sleeping actually lowers the risk of SIDS. It should have something to do with how the carbon dioxide in the mother’s breath is encouraging the child to breath.
If you are thinking about accidentally crushing the baby or suffocating her, then there’s nothing “sudden infant death syndrome” over that. Being suffocated or crushed is not a syndrome I am not scared of that happening either.
I truly believe in the benefits of sleeping together because I’ve gotten my information from reliable sources. Not just ‘some random doctor’ who made a blog, but - as an example - from PubMed. Also it’s adviced by the Danish healthcare. I literally don’t know anyone in real life, that doesn’t sleep in the same room as their newborn. We’ve bought a bedside crib since our bed is small though.
However studies shows that swaddling your newborn actually increases the chance of SIDS - and almost every American I see on tumblr does this. They even seem to do it in the American hospitals. I guess it’s part of their culture as cosleeping seems to be in mine. I have never with my own two eyes seen a Danish child swaddled.
It’s like when some cultures dictate that you should pic up your child as soon as it cries, but others tel you that you should let your child cry themselves to sleep.
So maybe we should all just drink our tea and mind our own business - since I’m pretty sure all we do is done with the best intentions for our children.
