In this episode Jeffrey White will discuss using Best Yet Cedarcide for bed bugs. Through research at Rutgers University we have found that it is one of the few all-natural, EPA exempt products that is highly effective against bed bugs and their eggs on contact. That being said, our concerns about the product are the strong odor associated with the application. When the product is used inside homes, the odor can become overwhelming to some (although the company claims there are no negative health effects from this odor). Also, the product is very oily and can leave an oily-residue behind where it is applied. This oily residue is enough of a concern that some have chosen not to apply it in their homes because of it.
In this episode Jeffrey White will have his first guest on Bed Bug TV, Allie Taisey, and they will discuss the future of bed bugs and how many affordable housing communities across the United States are handing bed bug infestations.
In this episode BedBug Central’s Jeffrey White will summarize the different options that exist for treating items that you cannot launder or directly treat. For additional information, check out www.bedbugcentral.com or tv.bedbugcentral.com.
BedBug Central will collaborate with the Pennsylvania Pest Management Association to offer the Pennsylvania Bed Bug Boot Camp to educate professionals. The Pennsylvania Bed Bug Boot Camp will be held on April 4 and 5, 2012 at the Chester County Intermediate Unit in Downingtown, PA.

In this episode Jeffrey White will explain why Phantom insecticide may be a good option for bed bug control and why if you are evaluating a pest control company and their protocol, you may want to see this pesticide being used. Phantom insecticide is a pesticide that, in some areas, may be used as part of a bed bug control plan. As stated previously, a multi-disciplinary approach to bed bug control is highly recommended (steamers, Cryonite, vacuums, etc) but when pesticides are needed, Phantom may be a good option to choose. Watch the video to learn more.
In this episode of BedBug TV, Jeffrey White explains how to determine if your personal steamer will be effective in killing both bed bugs and their eggs on contact. One thing that we know about bed bugs is that they are susceptible to heat and if they are exposed to temperatures in excess of 180 degrees Fahrenheit both bed bugs and their eggs should be killed on contact. If you have further questions relating to steamers, write a comment and we would be happy to answer.
In this episode, Jeffrey White of BedBug Central will explain the role a vacuum can play when attempting to removing bed bugs from your home, the right vacuum to choose for this job and the things you should be aware of when using a vacuum to remove bugs. Vacuums can play a critical role in bed bug control and management because they can remove a large number of bed bugs from a home in a short amount of time. By doing so, you don’t have to worry about pesticide tolerant or resistant bugs because instead of spraying the bugs with pesticide, you are removing them from the home. When choosing a vacuum, it is recommended that you use a vacuum that empties into a bag because bed bugs have been shown to be able to live inside a vacuum and when you are done vacuuming bed bugs with a vacuum that bags you can dispose of the vacuum bag in an outdoor trash receptacle. If you choose a HEPA filter vacuum, although they can be good vacuums, they can be difficult to completely empty out and therefore bed bugs and their eggs may live inside the vacuum and re-infest your home.
