beckleys replied to your post: âhot take but if the writers werenât cowards barry wouldâve hyphenated...â
I HAVE A POST IN MY DRAFTS COLLECTING DUST ABOUT THIS EXACT THING. Itâs unthinkable that Barry wouldnât want to officially add west to his name, truly and completely baffling
literally post đ that đ draft đ because youâre right and you SHOULD say it!! in season one when Henryâs still in prison, he mentions that he tried to get Barry to change his name when he was younger so that he could go through life without everyone knowing who his father was, so subtext: Henry and Joe almost certainly talked about Barry becoming a West at that point? and Joe RAISED him and has always called him a son, and Wally calls him his brother? so by hyphenating, Barry could literally honor both henry by keeping his last name and also the wests by taking theirs!
and on top of ALL that other familial significance the Wests have to him, this is Barry âI didnât mean it like a gender thingâ Allen, why would he not?? hyphenate?? if Iris was hyphenating?? like are the writers really trying to tell me Barry wouldnât want to have the same last name as his wife and daughter....... thank u next
