That one item that means so much to a character, because it’s the last thing they were given before someone important to them was taken away, that one significant item that they would protect with their fucking life because it’s the only thing they have left of someone they loved and cherished, and gods forbid if that item breaks, or is stolen, or is damaged Anyway, the absolute breakdown, and uncontrollable overwhelming fear the character experiences when said item is damaged and may not be fixable, or stolen and away from the character so long they feel lost and empty without it, without that item they don’t know what to do, they can’t function without it, they feel every negative overwhelming emotion all at once, they’re terrified they’ve disappointed their lost loved one, they’ve let them down, they’ve disgraced their loved one by loosing or breaking the last thing they ever gave the character, they are terrified it’s unforgivable, and the character travels through hell and back to fix and retrieve the item that was more than just a gift..
and in a way, loosing the item, is like experiencing the loss all over again..
