One mistake. It had been one fluke. One single damned slip up and it was going to cost her everything. The shock was causing the world around her to move at a snail’s pace and everything had suddenly gone silent despite the danger still present. A steady hand grabbed the wrist of her gear jacket and forced it up her forearm. The sight of her bloody and mangled arm dropped her to her knees, breath caught in her throat and nothing made sense for the moment. Nothing but the very, very clear teeth marks that formed a perfect crescent in her skin.
