I wonder if Hanazawa ever said Mosu…

While historic equivalent for Hanazawa Kojiro should have been the then 7th division Chujo- Oosaku Naohara, he doesn’t fit him much other than being from Satsuma and i guess he kind-of got based off Nogi Maresuke more.
So did Koito Heiji in a way…looks-wise,
Beard-wise mosu!
Anyway,
Whisker’s were all the rage in that time and people have had more absurd beards than Hanazawas.
I mean it!!
That’s Nakaoka Gaishi...guy with the 2nd largest moustache in the world. Even eating and drinking that stache stayed styled. Although he was just one generation apart, still...
I think…the closest beard-look-wise to Hanazawa was Takeaki Enomoto.
This guy Enomoto, you know the guy that founded and became the president of the Ezo Republic at end Boshin War. Hijikata talks about it during Doi the manslayer arc. Hijikata ‘remembered’ him clean shaven and young as in the famous photograph of him i.e. how he looked in his young age rather than what he would have looked like at that time(unless its after 1908). I wonder what Enomoto would’ve thought of Hijika…never mind.
Conversely, while Nogi Maresuke was in the army, Enomoto is the most famous guy from the history of the navy.
There were other candidates too though…
A decent normal stache maybe but Saigo Takamori’s younger bro Judo looks like Hanazawa too..
