What I'm taking from this is that I can now hold a family friendly version of the Barbarella viewing party (ok, a party of two, but the hilarity made up for it) that my husband and I held last week. This is excellent news, thank you Sam.
I mean, it is technically family friendly, but itâs also weird as fuck, so be prepared for questions like âWhat part of the dragon is he pulling those helmets out of?â and âDid that dog really assdrag on the floor of Buckingham Palace?âÂ

Is it as racist as the books? I'm assuming not because you totally would have said
I mean there are for sure a couple of problematique moments, but without having read the books and only having HEARD about how horrifyingly racist they are, Iâm gonna go with âItâs an improvement.âÂ
Iâm still trying to decide if the tiger is meant to be a Jewish stereotype or not.Â

Huh. I assumed this was an old post (out on DVD!) about a pre-IronMan RDjr taking what work he could get, but Google says this is a 2020 release so new as of May that itâs on multiple streaming services to rent. I donât know what to do with this information.
Better -- this was an RDJ passion project. He and his wife produced it. I mean, Iâm pretty sure itâs because theyâve got kids in the target age demographic, but yeah. Everything about this was deliberate.Â

I canât decide if this makes me want to watch it less or more.
Please believe me when I say that you, in specific, will find delight in this film.Â

I was afraid to see this movie because I have an overactive embarrassment squick, but now⌠I think Iâm reassured?  ;-D
Honestly I get terrible second-hand embarrassment and there was none of that to be found. Part of it is that most of the characters just seem incapable of feeling shame, but mostly it just moves too fast. Any moment that could have been embarrassing is just elided right on past because thereâs too much to get done.Â

also irrelevant to the plot but the fox and giraffe are girlfriends (the fox calls her âcherieâ because for some reason sheâs French) and John Cena polar bear is in a bromance with an ostrich
OH THANK GOD SOMEONE ELSE SAW THIS I didnât know what to say about the maybe-french maybe-lesbian fox and her Be Gay Do Crimes giraffe wife. I was squinting the whole time going âIs that a French accent? Is that....a gay fox? This seems like a gay French fox but I canât be sure.âÂ

THAT IS NOT HOW PARROTS MOVE I SHOULD KNOW I HAVE -pauses to count- TWELVE OF THEM IN THE HOUSE
Look I just spent an evening liveblogging Dolittle so I donât have any authority to judge your life or question your choices but....twelve parrots is a lot of parrots. Blink twice if you need help.
