Y'all. Will's epilogue scene where he gets a boyfriend is odd and out of character for a REASON. Mike is the one who is telling the story. Will doesn't indulge in his passions (art, dnd, comics, nerdy things, etc etc) because this is what Mike HOPES will happen. Because he can't imagine Will doing anything like that without Mike in his life. He wanted Will to move on because he can't imagine how Will could possibly be able to be happy doing art and nerdy things without Mike there. Mike isn't able to move on in his future. He is still writing but he is ALONE missing the joy of love, Will's love. Writing about times when he was happier with his friends before he shuts himself off. Still in Hawkins, yet losing everyone who cares about him. Mike Wheeler doing what he loves without the one he loves vs Will Byers finding someone else to love without any of the things he is passionate about. 💔
i think it’s really interesting how in Mike’s conversations, love confessions, and argue moments with El he always needs to explain himself.
He either repeats the phrases he says or tries to make her understand with extra information, he never just says what’s on him mind with El immediately getting it. For example in the “from mike” scene he says “I mean-” SEVEN times. (wait. seven. ) He can’t express what he feels towards El because he is with her to feel normal. He can’t say his true feelings and gets defensive about everything. He needs to explain his thoughts to her because they don’t have that special connection; however, with Will he NEVER needs to explain. Sure, sometimes he stutters because he is collecting his thoughts but once he says them, Will understands. They understand each other’s body language and can see the thoughts behind the words (usually. when they aren’t completely oblivious to each other’s feelings) LIKE THEY JUST HAVE SOMETHING SO SPECIAL.
this was so messy and poorly worded so i hope it makes sense. mike needs to be with will because he can never properly communicate his emotions with el without aid from an outside source.
not only is dustin still wearing his hellfire shirt, it got RIPPED. can you imagine how heartbreaking it is for him that the last article of clothing directly related to eddie has been forcibly ripped?? like he got beat up AND they ripped his shirt??? his hellfire shirt???? AND THEY WROTE BURN IN HELL ON EDDIE’S GRAVE????? like dustin is going THROUGH it and the fact that he is still grieving after 18 months completely shatters my heart.
