The first season can be juvenile, but they got the later timeslot they wanted for S2 and whoa boy what a difference! I donât know how they slipped ep 8 into S1, but you need to at least give the show that far, especially since you like Pyth. Just delete the poor attempts at âhumorâ from your memory, then proceed to adore the show and the best ever fandom. Weâre small but we get along, we have a tags list, and you can msg anybody and be instantly accepted as a friend. Â Â Â Â Â Â
Excellent! I had already planned on watching at least the first half of S1 even before I started the liveblog. It can take a while for a show to find its footing, and introducing new characters and settings can make for a lot of Early Installment Weirdness.
Pythagoras is the best, and Iâm excited that Ep. 2 looks to introduce another female character.
Thanks for the welcome! I still donât know where this show is going, but the classics geek in me adores Pythagoras, and Iâm happy to be here!

Donât worry, theyâre coming! Iâm definitely intrigued (by the intense fan devotion if not the first episode) and willing to give it a shot!

Are we actually getting new people into the fandom? OMG, welcome!
Thanks, Iâm happy to be here! Also, why did you leave this masterpiece of meta in the tags?
#How long does it take 20000 people to draw lots anyway?#I actually did the math on this scene once and well#it's problematic#it takes way too long#I wish I could find the post#tumblr probably deleted it#but also what if all the black stone are drawn quickly?#does everybody else go home?#what if a black stone is left after everybody has drawn?#the strategy is obviously to be at the end of the line#they have to short the stones to make sure a black isn't left at the end#or cheat and know the final ones are all white#and at least two people took stones who weren't counted#...#I've thought about this too much#and if it's more that you get the one that's there and you don't get to feel around and pick#then if pyth hadn't saved Jason's life#Jason would not have drawn before him#meaning his stone would have been white
I gotta admit, I went into that scene 100% expecting to learn that the drawing was rigged from the get-go so Minos and Pasiphae could get rid of people they didnât like. It was either that, or Pythagoras inventing a faster way to do it thanks to his mathematical prowess, and Iâm kinda sad that neither happened.
Shirley Jacksonâs âThe Lotteryâ solves this problem by having the head of each household draw for their families, and then having each member of the chosen family draw, and even then, it takes all morning.
