the writer saying something about the story outside of the story does not make it true
the writer saying something about the story outside the story does not make it true
THE WRITER SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT THE STORY OUTSIDE OF THE STORY DOES NOT MAKE IT TRUE JESUS FUCKING CHRIST WHY IS THIS SO HARD FOR PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND

The Twilight Saga
I am not ashamed of the books that I read.
Twilight got me back into reading around 7 years ago.Â
Its very 'uncool' to be a bookworm in high school, but Twilight made me love reading again.Â
To everyone that says that Bella is not a good role model for girls... listen, Bella is a realistic role model. We cant all be a symbol of rebellion. Bella shows us that if you look past faults in people, they can be capable of great love. And when something or someone comes in the way of that love you do everything in your power to overcome it. She is a normal high school girl that read Jane Austen and Emily Bronte and she finds love in a very unexpected person. Stephenie Meyer wrote the books. She can write the vampires to be however she wants them to be. She had a beautiful vision and she let us experience it. BOOKS BELONG TO THEIR READERS.
And who doesn't want a boyfriend that sparkles.
I don't usually ignore what J.K. Rowling says. But I am today, apparently.

BBTTR
so there's a shit storm thats going down on tumblr (and elsewhere) right now
But whats also MASSIVELY upsetting is the people who shipped harmony were VERY hurt by the post HP7 JK Rowling interview done with mugglenet's Emerson Spartz and the Leaky Cauldron's Melissa Anelli because they VERY MEANLY made fun of people who shipped Harmony/were against Ron/Hermione, that's the interview where Jo's "Hermione/Ron was as obvious as a falling anvil" comment comes from, and there was a HUGE mess in the fandom after that because people were very hurt that even though it didn't happen in the canon they should still be able to ship it safely in the fandom and there were so many hurt feelings and mean things said it was sad and scary
and now she does this?? I love Jo, she's my queen but...!!!
It's like Hannibal's Bryan Fuller vs Sherlock's Mofftiss as so far as respect to the fandom and encouraging them to believe and hope and take from a work what they need and care for and it hurts.
BUT THEN THE SHINING LIGHT IN ALL OF THIS
“They belong to their readers now, which is a great thing–because the books are more powerful in the hands of my readers than they could ever be in my hands.”
― John Green
and when people asked difficult questions about the validity of their interpretations of the characters in his books John Green didn't always answer specifically.
he said this and this means SO MUCH
HP always gets me extra deeply emotional and i was angry flushed thinking about this but then John tweeted and I was so HAPPY and so GRATEFUL that there are people who understand "BBTTR" and will encourage others to believe that too in a way that makes them feel safe and protected and encouraged and IMPORTANT in the ways they need to feel
So thank you, John. Thank you those in the fandom who will happily ship Harmony and Ron/Hermione, years later, and are fine with other pairings too. Huzzah for fandom and person to person respect. Hurry for John Green and the love that Nerdfighteria encourages and creates. Hurray for books belonging to their readers.Â
