I wish we, the US, should create a National Melting Pot Day. A day to celebrate our mixed heritage. But here is the thing, it would be a food holiday! Think like Thanksgiving. People would do potlucks with friends and family bringing in dishes of their ethnic backgrounds. We could have festivals involving food trucks of various cuisines where you can try all sorts of new and tasty things.
I like the idea of how in Halloween where you go door to door for treats, people would have small tables set out on their curbs with little bites for you try. Just hand pies of all sorts everywhere. Pasties, turnovers and empanadas as far as the eye can see.
