To end, here’s a picture of me after hiking up the ridge at Bridger, probably out of breath but dreaming of the winter to come. So far I have a trip to Japan planned in mid-February, and will be competing at the Freeheel Life Cup at Grand Targhee in early March. It’s the only all telemark big mountain competition all season, and the tele family that comes together to support each other is impressive, to say the least. I grew up skiing a mix of the Ruby Mountains in Northern Nevada, Grand Targhee, Wyoming, and Alta, Utah// My parents put me on my first pair of skis at age 2, and my first pair of telemark skis at age 10. We moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado when I was 12, and the next eight years saw telemark ski race after telemark ski race. After 6 years competitively racing on the FIS Telemark World Cup circuit, I came to the realization that powder skiing was way more fun, thanks to Bridger Bowl, the mountain close to Montana State University where I went to university.
