RE: Seating shenanigans
I saw a post about the glass closet/ seeding process and one about the seating arrangement at the BBMAS, so here goes.
I think the reason the BBMAS felt so off to us was because regardless of what they were trying to achieve, we have just been acknowledged and marketed to. After having been shunned and pushed away for so long by advertisers and the press via management, suddenly being tapped into as a market is a little bit of a shock.Â
That being said, I think the shock of being marketed to paired with the fact that what was being advertised (seating arrangement) wasn’t delivered led us to ignore interactions that we would have lost our minds over a mere 6 months ago. I mean, Harry and Louis were standing next to each other and actually talking to each other and interacting properly.Â
The perception of the awards was eclipsed by our expectation of H and L being next to each other. The promoters knew we wanted that, and used it to create hype. Even though that really doesn’t sit well with me, nevertheless is was a night with more professional interaction than we’ve seen yet. To us, it didn’t seem like much, but I think the BBMAS were the beginnings of strengthening H and L’s positive professional interaction and implying personal interaction. It’s all about the baby steps, even if the baby steps are morally questionable.
