All things Cabaret (+ a bit of Fantastic Beasts 3)

Definitely worth a listen — the delightful Eddie Redmayne and his Cabaret “Sally Bowles,” Jessie Buckley, with Zoe Ball on BBC2’s radio show Thursday morning.

Among the nuggets:

•The cast’s prep has now moved to the Playhouse Theatre in Covent Garden, which has been converted to the Kit Kat Club. They are in tech rehearsals — and were going to try on their costumes for the first time today. The production opens in less than two weeks, on Nov. 15.

•After Eddie describes being out on the street in costume in Edinburgh as a 19-year-old portraying The Emcee in a Fringe Festival production, Jessie proclaims, “You’ll see Eddie running up + down The Strand in latex.”

•Eddie describes the choreography as a “melange” of club culture and other genres, and admits both he and Jessie are “terrified about dancing.” He didn’t pick up on Zoe’s reference to the classic Bob Fosse choreography, so maybe that’s one of the reinventions?

•Both in the British Vogue interviews with the pair and in this chat, it’s evident that Eddie took an active role in pulling the creative parts of this production together. Something new for him!

•And finally, Fantastic Beasts 3. Eddie says he was involved with some post-production on it recently and hasn’t yet seen the film.
