I know you said Arthur got tired of Alfred's vigilantism but I wouldn't be surprised if the breakup was very emotional. Even if they remained friends they still parted ways. This is me drawing from experience, but knowing someone out there cares about you can be uselessly abstract when they're not tangibly around. You want to /see/ them live you. It's very different coming home to an empty house. I just feel lonely for Alfred who never seemed to find peace (not that I blame Arthur).
under cut again
But it sounds like meta Alfred never found closure if his motivation and drive to save others (survivor's guilt) remained the same. "One day his heart stops beating" sounds like he died of a broken heart. That makes me sad :( was Arthur surprised?
Well... he lost Matthew and didn't have much support for years, but he did honestly have a happier life once he had his coping mechanism, even though it was a dangerous one. He had to do something and take some sort of action, and that's what he did. I think even if it seems like it was a bad choice, Alfred viewed it as doing the absolute best he could to stop others from suffering the same kind of pain of loss like he did. It was probably less of a broken heart, and more of... a long, hard life full of stress finally taking its toll on him.Arthur was probably surprised, it's always pretty surprising. But he was also relieved. And sad. But relieved. After all, he'd always imagined Alfred being discovered by a government agency or some mafia ring or something really just awful with a lot of resources (he's probably glad his mother never got her hands on him) who dedicated themselves to finding out how they can experiment on or torture him or awful like that. Arthur probably thinks this is the best way Alfred could have gone.
And~ can you go further into detail about the epilogue of B-B-breakdown? What is the meaning of 34? Why does Alfred die so early? Why did they break up (something more than "it was the right time" pls) <3
Oh man you read through that monstrosity, I'm really sorry, jesus. You're gonna be so mad at me.
