Does leafpool finding the Moonpool have any more or less significance in BBTNP? I always thought it was weird that after a months long journey disconnected from Starclan the cats finally find a place to communicate with them again and… don’t really celebrate it at all?
Leafpool "Motherfucking" Moonpool got an Honor Title for discovering the goddamn thing. Her first name was Leafstripe!
It was in reference to her distinct vertical side stripes, inherited from Mama Sandstorm. I also want her to be fully named when TNP opens up to show that Squirrelpaw has been flubbing her assignments so badly that her Cleric sister is fully trained before she is.
(Later on, she doesn't get the chance to tell Nightheart about this until after he leaves for ShadowClan. He's going to have a lot more time realizing that there's a lot he doesn't know about his family because he was so wrapped up in his own problems, convinced that No One Understands)
It's a major factor into how ThunderClan feels about her. The politics are more complicated because there are individual "factions" inside every Clan now, turning conflicts where the ENTIRE clan would be feeling a certain way into potential shades of gray.
"Yes she broke the Cleric Vow, but... leafpool moonpool..."
"Yes Bramblestar is justified in demoting her for codebreaking but... leafpool moonpool..."
"Yes she is on the Sister's side in this conflict, but, you guessed it... leafpool moonpool"
Life is still pretty hard for her, but she isn't the narrative's buttmonkey like canon. She's controversial but widely respected, acknowledged as a mentor of several new Clerics, and the discoverer of the most sacred location among all the Lake's clans.
The discovery of the moonpool gets celebrated in an annual party, also. But it's part of a larger event for the entire Sundrown Patrol + Journey + Settlement.
