It's been a trying few days, but let's just mention the happy things and be done with it :) for who wants to remember the sad?
I spent a crazy amount of time social dancing over the Easter break. Aside from going to a bachata class on Thursday and social dancing til late on Friday, I also went to Viva Latino's Bazouka event on Saturday! I was so exhausted from all the dancing that I enjoyed it half as much as I would normally (in particular on Saturday, since I had 4 hours of workshops in the afternoon followed by a very energetic party at night), but I'm really proud of myself for showing dedication especially since I had more time to spare over the long weekend. Even though I very nearly burst into tears at the sight of their new female instructor (again), as she was so enviably beautiful, thin, really nice and talented and I felt like a complete blanched potato next to her. Or an eggplant, whatever is less shapely and attractive of the two. Obviously I'm having some self-esteem issues at the moment, but I reminded myself once again that there's more to life than looking drop-dead gorgeous, having your dream job and being insanely talented... - ha! Well, at the very least it's not everyone's destiny and we have to make do with what we have and be grateful.
Anyhow - on a different note, I went on a trip to Devonport with the parents and Mags over the weekend, which was relaxing and enjoyable. We had lunch at Thai Takapuna first, where I had a satay chicken on rice, and then drove to the beachside town where we had a stroll and later afternoon tea.
Lastly, I also did a spot of shopping and came back with an impressive (or so I thought anyway) Easter haul! It comprised of:
two sweaters from Decjuba - a demure cream and black oversized knit, and the other a soft, dark gray number with a jeweled neckline
4 singlets and a pair of pants from Glassons
a pair of shorts from Dotti
a pair of winter boots from Overland finally
Essentially I was only stocking up on things I really needed, but either way I'm happy with my purchases and feel much more prepared for the New Zealand winter.
That's all for now :) going out again on Thursday and Friday as a newly single lady. Thursday is going to be nerve-wrecking as I've never gone social dancing alone before, but there's a first time for everything. Besides I'm not going to be completely alone since I'm quite sure I'll recognize a few dancers and know one or two friends going.
Wish me luck and hope everyone is having a good week!
PS. Bought tickets to see Wicked the musical with friends in September. So looking forward to the theatre!
