#baxter bear

I don't think the Tumblr universe knows the beauty that is my cat Baxter. He is my mustachioed companion and he's basically the love of my life🤷🏼‍♀️❤️

So sometimes when I'm packing up- I ask the Bear to help. He comes running over, looks around, picks up something in his mouth and starts shaking it. Yep- that's what I look like too...

We're on our way. Day 1: What is there to say when you've put your belongings in storage and taken what you can in and on your car in a soft pack? One small case is for Baxter Bear- my trusted companion, friend and the dog I call son. He's three and stands 5 feet 2 inches tall when he starts to leap into the air to catch a soccer ball. I trim his curly red main myself so his case has grooming, food and health supplies with a few toys and treats thrown in. My case has toiletries, vitamins and hair supplies as well with a day's extra clothes thrown in. The SUV has a deluxe dog bed (brown) with cooling memory foam. There's the night's pillow and sleeping bag for me, in case I don't want to pitch a tent and need to sleep in the back. There's a food cooler with cooking supplies- a few spices, utensils and instant coffee, plates, camp stove and burner. There's a big jug of water back there too along with traveling dog dishes, video and camera equipment, laptop and extra hard drives. Extra shoes are in a bag and a small file box holds papers. The tent and air mattress are on the roof in a soft pack beside the pack with clothes- casual and a few nicer things thrown in. Packing this stuff took time, thought and many reconsiderations. Hats and sunglasses are there, small tools and cleaning supplies too but nothing makes us uncomfortable. We're well supplied but lean. First off a swim in the Patuxent River. Baxter Bear needed this. I wanted him to get comfortable with the traveling idea. We made out way slowly out of the Maryland- DC corridor with the help of a AAA trip tick like mom used to use only mine is an app and the Camping & RV app will guide our sleep destinations across the Southern US from East to West. It's a cob web clearing trip. I don't know how long we'll take but I need to find my soul again and Baxter Bear is here to keep me straight and safe. He's here to provide warmth and a few laughs too. He also breaks the ice with many strangers along the way. He's my photographic muse and is very amusing. You'll see...
