Tombstone and Hydra -- The New Villain
“You know, the fall isn’t all that bad” Tombstone said, “It’s like drowning. At first, the fear of becoming irrelevant consumes you. But once you accept that it’s happening, that you actually are drowning, you suddenly feel peace.”
Tombstone stared ahead, enjoying the sight of the sunset. He was always jealous of the sky with its multitude of colors while he was stuck with black.
“I won’t fall” Hydra said with confidence.
Tombstone sighed, “You will.” He paused, letting his words sink in, “You may never even get a pedestal to fall from. But you need to know something I didn’t.”
Hydra looked quizzically at Tombstone.
“You need to know its okay to fall.” Tombstone took a breath to steady his voice, “Whether you end up on a pedestal or the ground, you need to know that it’s okay.”
Hydra looked away from Tombstone, understanding the full weight of Tombstone’s words. The sky danced with shades of blue and orange, ignorant to the turmoil that went on beneath it.
“I won’t fall.” Hydra said, his tone as certain as before.
Tombstone shook his head, “I hope you’re right.”
