Every week it seems like there is a new breakthrough in battery technology. Researchers at Washington State have found a new way to do anodes that could potentially increase battery efficiency by 2 to 3 times. By coating battery anodes in tin instead of graphene, efficiency increases by a large margin. In addition to the efficiency increases, the batteries can potentially be manufactured at a lower cost because it is easier to work with tin than it is with graphene. Hopefully we'll be seeing results soon!Â
Amazing. IBM proposes new oxygen breathing battery that will allow a family car to travel 500 miles on one charge with a battery lighter than those on current electric vehicles. There are so many projects like this popping up now.
This is a major reason we need to invest now in radically expanding the capabilities of our electric grid. Politicians, lobbyists, and activists need to get out of the way of new energy production proposals so we can invest in making our country more efficient. We need to be ready when these technologies land.
