Archie Carter REAL!?
Yes, Real.
I don't think I have ever mentioned that I might be this man's biggest fan. Like I actually. Just as of yesterday gave him a tag on AO3 (YOU'RE WELCOME!) Does like anyone even know who this dude is? He's also in BATDR. He's going to be in the fanfic, and not just a random one-time appearance. He's kind of important. I LOVE YOU BENDY NOVELS
Alright, time to go off because I can't hold this in anymore.
Dreams Come to Life, The Lost Ones, Fade to Black… there's a recurring, deeply ridiculous issue I’ve just HAD IT with in the Bendy series that no one seems to talk about. Apparently, there's an unwritten requirement for every protagonist to be 17. WHY? Why is Buddy now a 17-year-old in the graphic novel version of Dreams Come to Life when it clearly says he’s 16 in the original book? Literally, in the original novel, he says he’s almost 17, and there’s a huge difference between being 16 and being 17. And no, there’s no reason for the change—it doesn't add anything to the character or the plot.
Buddy’s age being changed like this is such a baffling continuity screw-up. Why change his age for NO REASON? He’s 16! That’s part of the whole point of his character arc! He’s a teenager trying to escape the Lower East Side, but he's still young, still struggling with what adulthood means, and almost 17. His age is significant, and suddenly saying he's 17 feels lazy and out of touch with the actual character work that's been done.
But that’s not all. Apparently, every single protagonist in the Bendy universe has to be 17—Constance is 17 in The Lost Ones, Rose is 17 in Fade to Black, and Buddy is 17 in the graphic novel? Like… what is it with the obsession over 17-year-olds? It’s completely arbitrary and doesn't even fit the damn narrative! It’s like they can’t think of anyone younger than 17 to be a protagonist, and it makes the whole thing feel so formulaic and disconnected from the world the characters actually inhabit.
And don’t even get me started on the wikis! They say Buddy’s 17 without acknowledging the HUGE discrepancy between what the book says and what the graphic novel says. It's like they just decided "Yeah, let's round him up". NO. YOU CAN’T DO THAT. If a character is 16, they are 16, and that's a huge distinction. That’s not something to gloss over just because it’s easier to make him 17. It doesn’t make sense, and it just makes the continuity worse.
But then again, it’s like Bendy doesn’t care about continuity. They change shit for no reason all the time; remember when they changed Rose's age on the SAME page? And the fans just have to accept it. But I'm NOT accepting this. I'm calling it out. Whoever decided that 17 is the magic number needs to chill out and actually pay attention to the story. Characters have to make sense, not just fit some weird mold.
This series really has some problems that need to be addressed. I’m just tired of it, and I know I’m not the only one. So if you’re as tired of this lazy ass continuity as I am, let me know, because this needs to be fixed!

Bill and Brant "rescue" Evan from Alice, meanwhile Evan fully believes these two idiots kidnapped him since he wasn't in any particular danger working for Alice. Unfortunately, Evan isn't known for using the kindest words, and Constance has some very strong opinions on the mistreatment of her boys.
