Turbo Cider | Batch 19 | Brew Day | Bottling Day
What did work well for me is turbo cider.Â
The process was deliciously simple: I bottled my hefeweizen, and was left with the few inches of trub that remains in a bottling bucket. I pouredÂ
4 1/2 gallons of apple juice
1/2 gallon of lemonade
3 cups of sugarÂ
1 pot (40 oz) of black teaÂ
into the bucket, on top of the trub. Note that I mixed the tea with a half gallon of (refrigerated) apple juice, then mixed the sugar into that and poured everything into the fermentation bucket.Â
The OG (on August 12) was ... Â
about 1.052.Â
Within a few hours the fermentation really took off and continued for two weeks.Â
When I took a sample on Tuesday (August 28), the FG was 1.000! The taste was difficult to describe, sweet, slightly tart and astringent like guava juice. I bottled and am looking forward to consuming this cider, by far the simplest 5 gallon batch I’ve made.Â
