Rules: in a text post, list ten books that have stayed with you in some way. Donât take but a few minutes, and donât think too hard â they donât have to be the ârightâ or âgreatâ works, just the ones that have touched you.Â
1) Pollyanna - Eleanor Porter:Â
(Probably the first meaningful book I read as a child, and I've found myself recommending this book to people in more than one occasion. Lovely story and protagonist.)
2) The Virgin Suicides - Jeffrey EugenidesÂ
(I tend to say this is one of those stories that you don't just read, you somewhat experiences it while reading, simply because the details in the narrative are just amazing.)
3) The Great Gatsby - F. Scott FitzgeraldÂ
(A great classic is a great classic.)
4) If Tomorrow Comes - Sidney Sheldon
(There's a funny story behind this, because I was like 13 when I first read this book and my mum told me I was too young to read it, so I'd read it either at school or when I was supposed to be sleeping so that she wouldn't find out lol It's such an intriguing and exciting story, though!!!)
5) Memoirs of a Geisha - Arthur GoldenÂ
(It was one of those rare cases in which I watched the movie before I read the book. And yet I like the book better. Probably because I prefer books to movies, regardless.)
6) The Marriage Plot -Â Jeffrey Eugenides
(One of my latest reads, but also one of my faves. Quite a long book, but it's really good. I guess I just really like Jeffrey Eugenides'Â writing, idk.)
7) Pride and Prejudice - Jane AustenÂ
(A great classic is a great classic.)
8) The Goldfinch - Donna TarttÂ
(I'm actually currently reading this book, idk if it counts, but I'm including this one simply because this story surprised me. I didn't think I'd enjoy it this much, but it happens that it is indeed a great book. It's really captivating, and I'm eager to find out how it ends!!)
...
That's all I can remember now, and I'm not supposed to "think too hard" so that's it for now. I'll add the other two books later when my brain recalls other good titles :) Thanks Amy, and I miss you like hell btw <33
