28. are you out? if so how did you come out?

okay so before i say anything else i need to clarify that i’m only out to my sister and more recently people at my school, and to the majority of my acquaintances there, aka the people at my lunch table, i came out like this:

so my sister is a freshman, and it’s hell trying to find a table so she and her friends sit by me and my friends. cool. fine. it’s all good, right?

and then her friend goes: “god, i feel so sorry for [insert one of my friend’s names here] because her brother is gay” and like, she didn’t mean it in the sense of oh he’s got a crush on a dude i can feel it but more of like this is meant to insult him type of way

and my sister goes, “oh gee i feel sorry for me, too” with some heavy sarcasm, and she gives me this look like oh boy here we go a homophobe

and this girl—i’m gonna call her by her initial, A, for convenience’s sake—suddenly has this confused look on her face and she says, “wait why?”

and like a second after my sister hits me with a Look™, i stand up and look A dead in the eyes and tell her, “because i’m the gay sibling. me. i’m gay”

and A just stares at me with this look of disbelief on her face and goes: “No you’re not!”

slafjsladkfj like!!! i’m cacklign i fucking can’t!! like me and my sister share another look like we’re on the brink of cracking up like i’ve come out one-on-one to close friends before (one friend said: “omg that’s so cool i love gay people and have plenty of gay friends!” followed by an extremely biphobic comment, and another friend said: “really? you don’t seem gay”) but this. this way of coming out? really topped every other way i have come out ohmygod.

and like, right before i’m about to laugh my ass off, i go, “….. i’m dead serious, A… i’m gay. as in. i like girls. that gay.”

and she goes “wait what?” and at that point i stop listening bc my sister is pissed and starts to explain that i am, in fact, Gay

and ofc the rest of my friends turn to me and they’re like “omg you’re gay?” and i go “yeah! i am!” and they’re just like “oh cool!” and that was that.
