Aaah I love Orube! Here's a quick sketch but I hope to draw her again!

Hello again..... so..... this is a short story which, i should say, may be a bit of a spoiler to anyone who might have planned to read Trials (and so is the following text here)

it is really just very chill and fun and sort of adventurous story annnd with some pre-ship chemistry :)

So long I wondered what they actually meant by the eclipse. I even sometimes thought, if they did not mean rather a conjunction of the suns or sth, which would be why this red surge of light streams into the temple then?

Then I noticed that I somehow have missed this simple picture

Like how have I missed that???

They have two moons in Basiliade, as well, and they just cover the suns, like kind of what happens when there is a solar eclipse

So, I like really get why it is rare

Maybe I missed that cause when there is cool action Orube, you just look at cool action Orube

But well.. it really is just a great wonderful discovery that

p.s. i still dont get what the surge is supposed to be, but i kind of like that it is open to headcanons then, like a lot of basiliadean lore, so let's go wild

P.P.S. EDIT OK NONONO WAIT it is like both???? I think i maybe read the following panels in the past, thereby remembering the conjunction notion, but then i forgot where i got it... you know I have to confess i have read all the yarr scenes 1200 times, but the whole issue maybe only a normal amount of times..

I should have made the research with more focus ... all right, but then ............

it is at the same time a certain eclipse by some two moons, because there are obviously some two celestial objects that do not posses a glow of their own, so it is not the suns. They cover the suns apparently, so it is called an eclipse. But at the same time the suns align into a conjunction and generate the surge. While they are covered by the moons? It seems that two different celestial events are somehow aligned here, too

Also apparently Orube can see the two suns covered quite far from one another in the sky, and then only in quite a short time they are suddenly aligned - meaning the rotation of either the double suns around one another, or the rotation of the planet around them, or the combination of the two, is very fast, but wiki says that at least the former is quite possible

but then the conjunction wouldnt be so rare, right?

see, if the suns were aligned from the beginning, one moon could just cover them, and then they would dawn over its edge, you know, they call it a dawn, but why are there the two moons then in the first picture... I am more confused than I was before. It may be that it is again something not so well thought through, but I really hope I am rather missing something. Pls help. Tell me your scientific opinions. Thank you.

My dear friends, I have been promising to some of you for a very long time to post a story about the 4th arc, about what was going on before, and especially after the (in)famous meeting of Yarr and Himerish (aka Oracle) by the Fire Lake in Basiliade. This may finally happen in a few days. Yet meanwhile, I have decided to give some "coming soon" info on the cast, top people of all worlds, canonical and OC - you know, some PR. Well, here they are.

Note: in my lore, average Basiliadean life-span is ca 350 years (ca same year-length as Earthly), but till about 30 people age as Earthlings (didnt want them to be kids for 40 years or sth).

Canonical, yet violently headcanoned characters:

found out that therapy did not resolve everything

Anyway. This is a story of what was going on in the 4th arc, Trial of the Oracle, in Basiliade, shortly before Himerish and Yarr met, and especially after. There is fencing, there is fear to face one's human existence, one's past, one's present, one's idealised memories, one's repressed anger etc... there is the question of change and eternity. But there is also fluff and resolution and hope, and there is <3 the power of friendship and love <3 as the ultimate magic

I decided to post this gradually, but it is already written really, so no false promises! It has 8 chapters + prologue and epilogue, so I suppose I'll go ca 2 chapters every week or so. Now there is prologue and first two chapters

Through the Waterfall - about the days that lead to the meeting and some funny memories and reflections on the upcoming eclipse of the two basiliadean suns

Into the Lake - well... that is the one of the canonical meeting by the lake, but with some extra seasoning. I really enjoyed myself writing this one.

All chapters have water in their titles. If you ask me why, Im not sure. But there was a lot of water in the story. Like water is often a symbol for emotion and/or transformation. But I mostly just rolled with it.

Btw big thanks to @i-plague-eater <3 for mental support and consultations, although later I pushed into her rather some related spinoffs haha. And to people in discord server Cedric's Screaming Closet for our discussions and everything <3

I was thinking about trying this whole tumblr community feature and thought about like starting a

Kandra-Basiliadean community

what do you people think? Does it make sense? I mean it is so specific, there is very little of us, but like there are some people. Even those who just have this as side interest. Also maybe some may be encouraged to talk about it more. I dont know. It would be just fun really. There is more details and a poll under break.
