Season 1, Episode 12: Basic Straining

firstly: i ship duncney, and i love the episode basic straining. how couldn’t i. but, i do think the development should have gone slower than ‘wow we actually recognise each other as individual people with personalities and goals let’s make out’ okay.

as i just said - basic straining is the episode in which duncan starts to see courtney as more than a stuck up bossy princess and courtney starts to see duncan as more than a ignorant lazy pig. that doesn’t mean they should immediately get together?

think abt it. duncan already knew courtney is physically attractive, and was flirting w her for most of the season. it would have been Incredibke to watch him develop deeper feelings than physical attraction before they’d gotten together - watch him like her because she’s bossy but also because she’s smart and kind and beautiful.

AND COURTNEY LITERALLY JUST STOPPED SEEING DUNCAN AS A HUGE IGNORAMUS. LET THE GIRL HAVE STANDARDS JFC. let courtney watch duncan’s soft side develop more. let the two of them realise they want the other to succeed in challenges just as much as they want themselves to. let me have a confessional in which courtney realises she actually likes duncan as a human being, and duncan is like ‘fuck. i’m in love with courtney’

ALSO WOULDNT GIVE HAROLD A REASON TO GET COURTNEY OFF. honestly the thing that annoyed me most abt courtney getting voted off unfairly is that like,,,, if she’s gonna get voted off for something someone has done, it’s gonna be her that does it. that’s just courtney as a human being.

also developing their relationship w the recognition of being individuals would have been,,,, so healthy for their relationship later on (*cough* the list in action and the gwuncan getting together *cough*). like,,,,, duncan is so obviously still into courtney in all stars. like fr y’all.
