In case anyone wants to hear/see me practice a sermon with a sorta-scratchy voice (I have a sore throat)!
The scripture reading is from Mark 7 -- a debate with the Pharisees and then Jesus’s encounter with the Syrophoenician woman. The sermon explores what it would mean to follow a Jesus who was susceptible to prejudice just as all of us are, and what it means to respond gracefully when people call us out.
I am super open to feedback on gestures, pauses, eye contact, content -- anything! I need to improve my preaching skills.
I wrote this sermon for my Basic Preaching class; you can find the transcript here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/16a0Q-2mxxgvzW_oRgopr27xmcVO--gjPRDa_dbyi4kQ/edit?usp=sharing
Okay, I’m about to go into class to preach this thing -- wish me luck!
