I’m so tired of failing at basic human interaction. I do try. My brain just struggles sometimes (most times). But ultimately, I always seem to fail. *sigh*

dad: How was work?
me: It was good! (going into other room to get laptop) One sec.
dad: Okay.
me: (returns from other room) Yeah, I got to... (starts telling cute story)
dad:
me: (finishes cute story)
dad:
me: (prodding tone) ...yeah, it was cute.
dad: (humming to himself)
me: ...yeah. Good day.
dad: (continues humming to himself, breaking intermittently into whistles)

My brother in law's brother is a massive "not all guys" mansplainer. Every time I talk to him on FB he ends up saying something grossly sexist and then blaming me for getting all feminist on him when I try to explain why it's gross. Today I tried to explain to him that while yes, being polite is a good thing we should all strive for, sometimes women just don't have the energy to risk another guy not taking the hint and leaving us alone when we ask, and yes we might come off a little cold. "Well I'm not like that." Good for you, Nice Guy, but the 10 guys who previously hit on her probably were. "Well it's their loss, missing out on a nice guy." Yeah but see, that's the problem. You're assuming they're looking for a guy, nice or otherwise. I'm not "missing out" on anything when I'm not interested in guy company in the first place! How is that so hard to wrap your brain around?
