Paradox and Renegade are just doing whatever a company that has no love for the game would do. Who cares about lore or lore building. Interactions? Choice consequences? Charismatic characters that are still having stuff being written about 20 years after the game was relrased? Nah. They will release a bunch of basic stuff that does not build any links to the rpg, and then put some dlc that suckers may buy because "how is one of the main clans not even in the base game". Just make the story generic enough that no matter the clan you pick, the game stays the same. Who cares that there are better computers now.

NPC's will be basic, sorry, Jack. There will be this annoying mansplainer in the players head instead. No, this is the best we could pitch, bro. Oh but we will have nostalgia dlc just in case.

It was so obvious when the battle royale game came out. It was obvious in swansong, and also in the VR game.

I'm sorry that none of these games will help build community and bring more players to the actual rpg. A real pity. But it isn't the 00s anymore. Company choices. And then they will complain there wasn't enough market interest. Sure, dude. The Market. Lol
