something that i love about the yorozuya is how Kagura and Shinpachi are independently beholden to their own moral codes. They don’t help people just because Gintoki wants to help them, they help people because THEY want to, even when Gintoki is indifferent or absent. Like Kagura in the kintaro arc, when she offers to free Soyo, when she gets in between Nobume and Sougo’s fight. Or Shinpachi!!! when Gintoki sends Kagura off with her dad, or even in Kagura’s introduction episode when Gintoki leaves. And one of the early arcs, with the underground fighting rink, when Gintoki is detained by Hijikata he leaves Kagura and Shinpachi to watch the guy’s house and when the tendoshuu show up they have an exchange like ‘It’s not like Gin-san told us not to intervene’ ‘If he had we wouldn’t have listened anyway’ or something like that and oof they’re such good kids i love them
