I don’t get snowboard lingo.
Ultra Gnar Gnar is brewed by Basecamp Brewing in Southeast Portland. According to their copy, Gnar Gnar is brewed with oats and “specialty-malted barley.” The first thing I noticed was the color. This is very dark for an IPA, well into amber territory. When was the last time I saw an IPA this color? There is some serious sweetness in there. Not quite caramel, maybe a dark honey. It’s actually nice balanced by the hops, which lean toward the resin-y side of things. But there’s a tropical tang in there. I really need to put Basecamp on my list. But seeing as such a list does not exist, I think I’m in the clear.
