The Blue Jays are still barred from playing in Canada, but as they decamp from Florida, their fans ā in plastic cutout form ā will make the trip to Buffalo.
The celebrity section, in the 100-level in Dunedin, includes Ash and the actors Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Oh; Paul Sun-Hyung Lee and Jean Yoon of the CBC network show āKimās Convenienceā; and the cast of the Canadian sitcom āSchittās Creek,ā including Dan Levy, Eugene Levy, Catherine OāHara, Sarah Levy, Annie Murphy, Emily Hampshire and Noah Reid.
A Toronto native and longtime fan, Reid called the Blue Jays a āmajor distractionā on the āSchittās Creekā set in Goodwood, Ontario, a 45-minute drive from Toronto. Eugene Levy regularly streamed playoff games between takes during the teamās 2015 playoff run, and assistant directors, writers and the wardrobe department followed the team closely.
Reid admitted it was bittersweet to see his cutout.
āI would love to be sitting in those seats,ā he said. āI couldnāt help but be a little bit jealous of my cardboard self.ā
Reid says he will find a way to Buffalo if the Blue Jays play in the World Series there.
āIām holding an American passport,ā he said, āso Iāll be lining up at the border to cross the Peace Bridge.ā
