Not all lords are chosen to ascend solely based on their skills with the sword and shield. Many have been chosen for far less physically imposing skills and traits. For example, in legend, there was a man so incredibly resistant and jubilant in his enjoyment of drinking games that it was said he traveled the roads late at night when all taverns were closed, utterly blissful and ignorant of any dangerous nightbeasts for the very alchohol in his blood could drive vampires and any other flesh-hungry beasts into a drunken stupor, his body always smelling like sweet berry ales and bar-treats. It was his ability to take bliss in one of the most joyous passtimes man had made for themself, his inate ability to drink giants under the table, and his natural strength and level headedness in even the deepest, sloppiest drunken states that granted him favor from Hermaya, the carnal goddess of love and peace. Hermaya brought him up through his lofty intoxication and granted him the powers of a Lord, making him their slurring, baligerent, jolly mouthpiece for all eternity. To this day, barkeepers often hold Barram as a patron saint of drink in their establishments and celebrate him by putting his winking likeness at the bottoms of mugs and cups so that any patron who cleans their goblet dry might be reminded of the greatest drinking pal to ever be.
