as promised last night, i am posting again to introduce blumiere and timpani’s four kids 🖤🦋

but before i jump into them as individuals, i wanna get a few general headcanons out of the way

ー

devenir is blumiere’s family name, and timpani takes the name after marrying him to give it new meaning/life

i headcanon the tribe of darkness is made up of two separate species: the noctua (owl people, which includes blumiere and his family) and the vesperti (bat people, which includes nastasia)

so they can turn into these respective animals (though i still need to draw those forms), and blumiere’s children can also still turn into owls despite having a human mother

there are also several design choices you might notice they share that are tied directly to cultural/historical practices, but i think those details are better to discuss in a post specifically about culture/world-building headcanons, so i will go more in depth about those then 🖤🦋

14 years old

firstborn twin; older than nathaniel by just a few minutes

named for both of her grandmothers (angélique being blumiere’s mother, and aurelia being timpani’s mother)

blue-skinned with pale rainbow hair like her mother, timpani

fiery, curious, and wildly intelligent — has an insatiable passion for alchemy (courtesy of her mother)

loves experimenting (sometimes recklessly), often with dramatic flair

speaks her mind freely, sometimes to the horror or awe of the court

emotionally intuitive beneath the chaos — especially sensitive to her parents' moods

has inherited blumiere’s sarcasm and timpani’s deep empathy

frequently found on ceilings or walls, thanks to her inherited gravity-defying trait

gives chaos, color, and laughter wherever she goes

14 years old

younger twin, born just after angeline

his middle name comes from blumiere’s late younger brother, alain

violet-skinned with indigo hair and iridescent rainbow streaks underneath

amber eyes like blumiere

deep thinker, introverted, prefers books and research over noise

special interest in history, social sciences, and ancient cultures

incredibly observant — he notices what most people miss

closest to blumiere in temperament, though with far less neuroticism; often acts as an advisor to him thanks to his already apparent gifts in diplomacy

doesn’t speak as loudly as angeline, but when he does speak, people listen

protective of all of his siblings, especially seraphine, though he typically only shows it in subtle ways

sometimes forgets to eat or sleep while deep in thought

carries the calm logic of his father with the hidden sense of mischief from his mother

🦋 lucien nazario devenir 🦋

10 years old

his middle name comes from timpani’s late father

lavender-skinned from his tribe of darkness side, but otherwise a near mirror of timpani (in terms of facial features)

completely mute — communicates through sign language, gestures, and expression

the most owl-like in his mannerisms: tilts his head, blinks slowly, makes soft cooing noises

feels… ancient, almost — possesses an eerie, quiet wisdom beyond his years

highly sensitive to spiritual or paranormal phenomena; wears bandages on his hands and feet so he doesn’t absorb such energy constantly

has a strong bond with each family member in different, unique ways

often sits alone in silence, but it never feels lonely — more like watching

deeply affectionate with his family, especially his mother, whose arms remain his favorite place

considered “odd” by the court, but fiercely beloved and protected by his parents and siblings

5 years old

the youngest of the devenir siblings — the family’s “final blessing”

her middle name, solana, is also timpani’s middle name and means “sunlight,” chosen by her parents to honor the warmth, peace, and healing she brought with her

born on a quiet, misty night — a deeply spiritual birth surrounded by protection spells, prayers, and love

blue, luminous skin with starred freckles — seems to shimmer subtly in the light

long, silken hair with a rainbow glow, usually tied with ribbons her siblings picked out

soft violet eyes that, while unique in color, hold her mother’s softness — wide and expressive, often filled with quiet wonder

she has mysterious magic relating to dreams; basically taking dreams (typically bad ones) and weaving or unraveling them like tapestries, appearing like threads of mist

isn’t always the chattiest, but when she is, her voice is gentle and dreamlike; she more often communicates through expression and touch

intensely observant — she watches everything, soaking in the moods and emotions of those around her

often mistaken as shy, but in truth she’s simply introspective and slow to trust; she’s very sociable once comfortable

closest to lucien, with whom she shares a quiet, intuitive bond — they often sit together in complete silence, perfectly content

has a vivid imagination and a deep love of stories, especially the ones nathaniel reads aloud

follows angeline around like a shadow, often helping (or being volunteered) in wild alchemy experiments, even if she gets glitter in her hair for a week

deeply connected to nature — speaks to flowers, collects feathers and stones, and believes everything has a soul

often found dozing in sunlit windowsills, curled in her mother’s shawls, or resting her head on blumiere’s shoulder during court meetings

considered “an old soul in a small body” — wise, dreamy, and full of quiet light

flarelle is really bombastic and energetic like angeline

she has fire based abilities that often assist angeline in her alchemy

she can boil/purify water, cool down or heat up metal, turn rock into clay, etc

she also has a combustion-like charged attack if used in combat

ー

chrono is mostly chill like nathaniel but definitely blunter/wittier than him

he can temporarily speed up or slow down time around nathaniel, records lore fragments and ancient scripts, and can reveal hidden runes or things similar

ー

whisp is generally quiet like lucien, but when she does speak she tends to speak poetically or like a riddle

she reveals emotional auras of others, hidden illusions or apparitions, or spirits that lucien can’t (lucien feels and absorbs more than he actually sees)

ー

liora detects and harmonizes with frequencies that only she can hear

and she’ll tell seraphine (or anyone who asks nicely really) what she picked up on from said frequency (emotions/memories/truths/etc)

her antennas act like the antennas of a radio

This is Flicker! I don't know much about them yet, other then the fact that they're a trickster fox keen on dimension hopping. And maybe their home world was one of the first to get consumed by the void. Maybe I'll play with the concept later.
