her n jayj are definitely childhood best friends! whenever their dads would hang out to smoke and drink, the kids would always be sent away to go play outside on their own! thats pretty much how they got close. they spent all day talking about their fathers as they got older and didn’t wanna play in the mud anymore. they’d have each other for comfort, and their father issues definitely bonded them.

barracuda was the first person that jj cried in front of, when they were sixteen, after his dad beat him when he found out they needed to pay a restitution for toppers boat. she had to hold him for probably half an hour as he sobbed into his arms, one of his big hands around her waist, the other holding onto the strap of her whale-tail to stay balanced. (lol)

i think they probably drifted apart when jj started hanging out with john b and the pogues more than barracuda, when they started looking for the gold more often. she’s a bit of a loner, isolated because of her dad, but also because frankly she finds jj’s friends obnoxious.

but she’s not afraid to speak her mind, lest we forget!!!!! so they made up when she had enough stomped over to him in her thrifted black doc martens and demanded that they spend more time together. to which he teased, “damn, mama, scary like your pops, got my heart running. but maybe that’s just cause im seein’ you in that little skirt,”
