The bunker door groaned on rusted hinges as it was forced to open fully, the small service doll stumbling slightly into the room as it suddenly found itself with a lack of resistance. Dust wafted off of the floor from the disturbance and the airflow of the now fully opened entrance, reflected softly in the sunbeams that came in.
Orchid let out a small synthesized sigh, dusting its uniform off carefully before looking around the familiar room. The once muddy footsteps that had marked its hasty escape were now dry and cracked, but still obvious compared to the rest of the rather undisturbed bunker.
The doll followed them, the faint glow of its purple irises carefully retracing the path it had once taken until it came upon a room deeper in the structure. The room where the chase had ended.
The porcelain shell of Orchid's old frame laid on the floor, torn open, shattered ceramic and shredded wires scattered across the room, a perfect picture of the doll's end. It largely ignored it all, instead scanning the room for something else- something that made Orchid's entire body seem to perk up.
It wandered over to a corner, bent down, and picked up the old rifle with a soft smile, cradling it against its chest like a cherished stuffy.
With its mission complete, the doll began to walk out of the room before pausing. It turned, taking a long second to stare at its old frame. Without a sound, the doll bent down, and closed the eyelids on the shattered copy.
