So here's the biggest Finnish music collaboration I've seen (I'm not saying this is the biggest, just the biggest I'm aware of), and it's for a good cause of course. They are collecting funds for a new children's hospital in Helsinki, as the old one is too small for the needs of today.

Now, one might argue that a children's hospital should be funded by the state and not by charity, but that's another discussion. This is a music blog after all.

The song Lohtu, which means "solace", is composed by Mr Nightwish himself, Tuomas Holopainen. He has also contributed to the lyrics, as has Jurek Reunamäki and Jare "Cheek" Tiihonen. Jurek also produced the song.

Among the performing artists you'll hear and see Cheek, Chisu, Jari Sillanpää, Jenni Vartiainen, Jesse Kaikuranta, Johanna Kurkela, Jorma Uotinen, Juha Tapio, Lauri Tähkä, Lauri Ylönen (The Rasmus), Lilli Paasikivi, Matti Salminen, Pekka Kuusisto, Peter Franzén, Riki Sorsa, Samu Haber (Sunrise Avenue) and Samuli Edelmann.

On top of this the strings are arranged by Finnish film music composer Tuomas Kantelinen and on strings you hear excellent musicians like Pekka Kuusisto, Teppo Ala-Mattila, Taru Lehto and Markus Hohti.
