In the heart of a modern library, children's librarian Bucky Barnes meets his match in the form of the new barista: Steve Rogers. He doesn't think there's any way his crush could be requited -- but sometimes librarians don't know everything.

Review:

Okay so first things first, I am officially in love with the concept of soft beefy Bucky and I would die for him. I think this is the first time I’ve encountered a Bucky who was bulked out but so shy and it was a combination that I will now need more of. It was so easy to picture this hulking giant of a man gently working at the library being an all around sweetheart who loves books.

And then you add in Bucky’s crush on Steve and, somehow, he gets even more adorable!

The way he moons after Steve is great and I love his internal dialogue about being essentially a disaster gay. It’s oddly relatable because who amongst us hasn’t wanted to hit on a cute barista but can’t because their gaydar was obviously from the 75% off discount shelf?

Steve of course is a real gem. I do love some small scrappy Steve. After Steve defends Bucky from a nasty patron, it’s my personal head canon that from that moment on, Steve is on high alert and ready to jump over the cafe counter to throw hands at anyone who makes Bucky even a teeny bit uncomfortable. I also really really love the idea of Steve finally going up to big ol’ Bucky and being like “hey, we’re going out on a date” and Bucky following along like an excited Great Dane with heart eyes.

The smut in this fic is supremely good and kinda sweet which is a super bonus added to an already amazing story.

Finally, can I work in this library? It sounds like such a great place to be and I would totally work there if I could.

Steve’s always been… bigger. Fatter. It’s just been a part of his life. He’s accepted it, and he’s accepted the fact that other guys don’t usually like fat guys. When his relationship comes to an abrupt end, he wonders if anyone will ever want to be with him again, if he’ll be forever alone, selling coffee in a shop in the shadow of Stark Industries and making art when he can scrounge up the money for supplies.

Bucky lost his arm in Afghanistan more than 12 years ago, earning him a Purple Heart he didn’t really care about and an honorable discharge that he thought he wanted. His work in robotics and cybernetics have led him and his fellow researchers to a metal prosthesis that can move, feel, and operate like a real limb. His life’s work now accomplished, the last thing Bucky was expecting was to walk into a coffee shop and see a gorgeous man behind the counter to spark desire in him that he’d forgotten he had.

This was such a great read! I don’t know why but there is just something hilarious about Bucky’s caffeine deficiency caused quasi-murder thoughts. I also really enjoyed Bucky’s nicknames for his fellow customers and Steve. And then the fact that Steve seems to think it’s adorable/hot? Freaking priceless!
