Tim dropped last week.

Damian has been asleep for some months now.

Dick tries his best to keep the smile on his face. Tries his best to keep patrolling as if everything is fine. He's gotta keep it together. He's gotta stay strong for his brothers, for his Dad, for gotham and bludhaven. Dick doesn't feel strong.

He feels a weakness seeping in his bones. An aching in his muscles he's only accustomed to feeling after too many all nighters and some intense training or fights. There's a haze in his mind that makes it hard to think. Hard to move. Hard to swallow down the anger and keep on smiling.

It scares the shit out of him.

After Jason... Left, his mind played tricks, showed him the little brother he'd lost, the brother that he was desperate to get back. The brother that he knew he would never have again. In that time he got used to anger burning in his gut, he learnt again how to smile and joke through it. But this anger. This anger didn't just burn in his gut it seemed to whisper in his ear, telling him horrible things about himself, about his brothers, about life.

It made him want to scream, it made him want to tear himself apart, it made him want to lay down forever.
