Qilimanjaro Quantum & Qblox Partner To Deploy DAQC Systems
Europe, Qilimanjaro, and Qblox: Promoting Hybrid Digital-Analog Quantum Computing via Strategic Cooperation
Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech and Qblox are boosting the European rollout of powerful digital-analog quantum computing (DAQC) devices after expanding their strategic partnership. This BSC-based relationship is vital. This improved synergy aims to include these technologies into Qilimanjaro's forthcoming Hybrid Quantum Data Centre in Barcelona, opening in November.
The development of hybrid quantum computers drives Qilimanjaro's approach. These systems combine European superconducting digital processors with the company's proprietary analogue processors. By combining Qblox's advanced control stacks and Qilimanjaro's quantum computers, scalable and reliable systems are conceivable. End users will be able to use these systems via cloud services or on-premise HPC integration.
This agreement enabled the deployment of these integrated technologies in Qilimanjaro's Hybrid Quantum Data Centre, which will be offered as a cloud service. A global milestone will be reached when digital superconducting quantum computers and analogue quantum computers are made available on a single platform and software environment.
Building on Barcelona Supercomputing Centre Success
A solid foundation of BSC quantum computer integration work underpins the expanding partnership. Qilimanjaro has led superconducting quantum system integration at this top HPC centre. The company has successfully positioned its cutting-edge quantum technology adjacent to MareNostrum 5, a powerful supercomputer.
This early collaboration has yielded results. The Quantum Spain program runs two digital quantum computers at the facility. The EuroQCS-Spain project is also integrating an analogue quantum computer. With the completion of this analogue system, digital and analogue quantum computers using superconducting technology will function together in a high-performance computing environment for the first time in Europe.
Executive Views on Hybrid Systems and Broad Access
The leaders of the two cooperating organisations stressed the impact of this expanded partnership on technology and accessibility.
Work with Qblox makes “opening quantum technology to end users” easier, says Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech CEO Marta P. Estarellas. She stressed the company's goal of “real impact across both industry and research” and “broad access through with quantum data centers”.
Qblox CEO Niels Bultink called Qilimanjaro “uniquely positioned globally, with expertise in both digital and analogue quantum computing.” He said the two companies had “demonstrated it can build the world’s most advanced hybrid systems” and that the “longstanding partnership is key to Qblox’s mission of advancing the customers towards industrial-scale quantum computing.”
Driving European Quantum Sovereignty
Expanding this relationship supports Europe's quantum sovereignty aim. The cooperation achieves this goal through national and EU programs as ImpaQT. Qblox brings its world-renowned control stack expertise to these collaborations, while Qilimanjaro leverages its hybrid quantum computing expertise. This collaborative resource pool aims to boost Europe's leadership in this innovative area.
Detailed Look at Collaborators
Qilimanjaro, a Barcelona-based quantum computing firm formed in 2019, aims to accelerate the deployment of practical quantum computers. The company mostly does this by making “signature analogue quantum chips”. Qilimanjaro builds full-stack quantum computers with fluxonium analogue qubits. This novel architecture allows faster and more scalable solutions by avoiding error correction. Analogue quantum systems are recognised to provide short-term advantages in AI, optimisation, and simulation.
Digital quantum processing units (QPUs) may be limited or expensive in some domains.
Qilimanjaro uses dual technologies for quick quantum computing access. This approach begins with the SpeQtrum QaaS platform, which provides remote access to hybrid quantum data centres that efficiently integrate analogue, digital, and classical computing resources. The company's on-premise systems for HPC centres and research institutes offer full-stack and flexible quantum integration for analogue and digital QPUs.
The quantum revolution is being driven by Qblox, the world leader in scalable quantum control. The company provides control and readout engines to help researchers and engineers develop high-performance, dependable, and scalable quantum devices. Global academic and industry leaders trust Qblox to set the standard for quantum control and create the foundation for this new computing era.
