Going to the movies is one of my favorite pastimes. Additionally, going to the drive-in has always been a particularly enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, drive-ins seem to have lost their appeal to mass-audience moviegoers. While reading Barbara Klinger write about the practices and preservation of film undertaken by AMC, I can’t help but think back on an experience at an abandoned drive-in theater. Above, we see and example of a neglected reel of film forgotten in an equally neglected venue of cinematic experience. While we often have the convenience of choosing between going to the theater or staying home to enjoy films, I’d much rather see more opportunities to enjoy the merging of the two (driving to a particular location for the sake of enjoying the comfort of your own vehicle)! Perhaps when I win the lottery...

Easy Rider's relationship to the two major national discourses of its time - the traditional and the transitional - reveals that what has appeared to be its clear generational message, its advocacy of the hippie and its denunciation of society, is fraught with inconsistencies and ambiguities... In examining Easy Riders treatment of the road and the landscape, we can see that there is no single "smooth" message offered by the film about its times.
