L-Vis 1990 - Ballads EP (Night Slugs - 2013)
Night Slugs have every right to claim they are the most progressive electronic label in the world right now. Everything they did last year from the space goo of Girl Unit's, Club Rez Ep to the razor sharp violence of Jam City's brilliant Classical Curves was nothing short of face melting. Ballads is the first proper release from label co-owner L-Vis 1990 on the imprint and he's been paying close attention to the leaps and bounds made by his friends.
The three tracks highlights three varying pathways the labels distinct sound can be dragged down. "Ballad 4D" sounds as if you are in the process of making a 40 tonne solid block of concrete weightless, "Not Mad" chugs along with the pots and pans clang of Jam City's more techno friendly moments providing a joyous if not slightly off release, and "Signal" turns the sic-fi sonics down an industrial service lane. It's a mission statement, fast furious and very in your face, but it wouldn't be Night Slugs otherwise.
