Traditional Sulphur Miners (Series) Have you seen the traditional way of mining sulphur? This photo series will bring you through the process. Photo 4: Each miner carry sulphur load of up to twice their body weight as they make a 200m climb back out of the crater and all the way down the outer slopes to the weighing station at the foot of the volcano. The work takes a toll on their bodies, and the sulphur fumes poison their lungs. The miners make several such trips every day and are paid around US$10 ~ 15 per day.
