It is a day of self-reflection, where one distances themselves from worldly desires. Nyepi is both a reconnection to nature, and to the self.
Today is Ugadi or Yugadhi or “beginning of the age” a date that marks the beginning of the Hindu lunar calendar, in some places in India, Nepal and Bali, that of celebrating Nyepi, the day of silence, on this day Vishnu appeared as Matsya the fish plumbing.
